DAS Birmingham, Dudley & Wolverhampton

At NFL Motorcycle Training we have been offering DAS (Direct Access) DSA approved Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) for the motorcycle test since its introduction in 1990. DAS is a scheme for over 21 years to learn to ride on a bike with a power output of 46.6bhp or more (usually a 500cc bike), on completion you will receive a licence to ride any size bike unrestricted. We offer the service to applicants in Birmingham, Dudley & Wolverhampton.

CBT Test & Bike Test

Potential motorbike riders need to complete a bike test which is also known as a CBT test, this is if they want to ride a motorcycle or moped on the roads of the UK, although this is not the case if they obtained their car licence before 1 February 2001.

There are typically five elements of the CBT test:

A2 Licence

Have you have recently just completed the CBT and theory test? Are you over 21 years of age? Then the A2 course might just be for you.

Many people opt to choose the A2 course because there is no other access to more powerful machines of any size and cc, however there is limitations you are subject to a probationary period of 2 years and must not exceed 33 bhp this is done by using a restrictor kit, after this 2 year period the restriction is lifted. At the end of the A2 course you will be tested on a machine of up to 125cc, if successfully passed you will be able to drive any motorcycle of BHP.

DSA Approved Instructors For Birmingham, Dudley & Wolverhampton

CBT training can only be taught by Driving Standards Agency (DSA) certified instructors at an approved training body. The Compulsory Basic Training scheme was brought in to cut the number of accidents caused on the roads by inadequately-trained riders. This is why the DSA has put so much emphasis on certifying instructors to the highest standards.

DSA approved motorcycle instructors must demonstrate the ability to control their motorcycles safely, and have the right skills to impart this knowledge to others. Key areas include expert handling, knowledge of road procedures, anticipation and hazard perception, speed, time and distance judgment and consideration for other road users.
